Figure Four Trap

Picture
The figure four is one of the oldest trapping machines. It works by a series of, precariously, yet solidly balanced sticks holding up the deadfall, usually a large rock. The trap is triggered when the animal disrupts the stick balance while trying to eat the bate. These devices are meant to quickly kill small animals, with the least amount of pain. If you find your game alive when checking your traps, you need to find a larger deadfall for three reasons. One: A wounded animal can be a dangerous animal. Two: Morally you are making the animal that gave its life for your meal suffer. Three: When the animal it suffers, it floods its body with adrenaline, making for tougher meat.
