Metallurgy 

Metallurgy probably came about by accident. Sitting around a fire one night a bead of copper fell into the flames. After the fire had cooled the bead was found to have changed shape. Over time the heat became intentional and was poured into molds to make a shape, such as weapon points and jewelery.
