Finding Copper
Unless you happen upon a vein or are a geologist, finding copper in the wild is not easy. Early man used to find minerals that are formed by the same process(below), thus indicating copper nearby, but even that didn't guarantee success. Unfortunately it is just easier to find it disused within our civilization.
Copper lines our electrical infrastructure. Chances are if it has power, it's got copper. All of a sudden that discarded junk you found becomes tools and weapons.
